* Convert UDP platform test to NUTS.Garrett D'Amore2024-02-25
| | | | | | This also restores the IPv6 sanity check. Note that UDP is still not supported as a transport, but this can be used to implement higher level transports such as ZeroTier (or later QUIC).
* New CMAKE option NNG_ENABLE_COMPAT (defaults ON)Garrett D'Amore2024-01-27
| | | | | | This option allows the compatibility code to be elided from the build. This saves build time, and eliminates bloat from a static library when used strictly in native NNG mode.
* fixes #1577 nng_stat_find_socket always returns the same stats nodeGarrett D'Amore2022-04-16
| | | | | Also this fixes problems with uninitialized socket names, and the socket name stat not being adjusted correctly when set via API.
* Bus socket converted to use lmq.Garrett D'Amore2021-12-27
| | | | | | | | | | This should give significant performance boosts to anyone using this protocol. Buffering on both the send and receive side is supported, with a default buffer size of 16 messages. This should help provide a reasonable default case for most users. While here updated the test for bus to much more complete NUTS style test framework, with increased coverage.

* fixes #1401 valgrind reports leaks in all testsGarrett D'Amore2021-01-03
| | | | | | | This arranges for nng_fini to be called via atexit in the test version of the library. It also cleans up some of the actual tests to reduce extraneous (and in some cases incorrect) calls to nng_fini.
* fixes #1398 integrate new acutest.h (#1400)Garrett D'Amore2021-01-03

* fixes #972 Very slow pull/push performance compared to ZMQGarrett D'Amore2020-12-27
| | | | | | | | | | This refactors the pipeline protocol to use lightweight mq instead of the more expensive message queue structure. It also provides nicer backpressure and buffering support. The test suite was updated and converted to NUTS as well. This won't completely close the gap, but it should help quite a bit.
* Convert list to new test framework; detached node fixes.Garrett D'Amore2020-11-24
| | | | | List nodes that are not part of a list should return NULL when asking for the next or previous item.
* Work for test refactoring.Garrett D'Amore2020-11-18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are a few major areas in this change. * CMake options are now located in a common cmake/NNGOptions.cmake file. This should make it easier for folks to figure out what the options are, and how they are used. * Tests are now scoped with their directory name, which should avoid possible name collisions with test names. * A number of tests have been either moved or incorporated into the newer testutil/acutest framework. We are moving away from my old c-convey framework to something easier to debug. * We use CMake directories a bit more extensively leading to a much cleaner CMake structure. It's not complete, but a big step in the right direction, and a preview of future work. * Tests are now run with verbose flags, so we get more test results in the CI/CD logs.
* fixes #1087 CMakeLists structural improvements desiredGarrett D'Amore2020-11-14
| | | | | This doesn't modularize all the tests yet, but it goes a long way in the right direction.
* fixes #1041 Abstract socket address for IPCGarrett D'Amore2020-11-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #1326 Linux IPC could use fchmod fixes #1327 getsockname on ipc may not work This introduces an abstract:// style transport, which on Linux results in using the abstract socket with the given name (not including the leading NULL byte). A new NNG_AF_ABSTRACT is provided. Auto bind abstract sockets are also supported. While here we have inlined the aios for the POSIX ipc pipe objects, eliminating at least one set of failure paths, and have also performed various other cleanups. A unix:// alias is available on POSIX systems, which acts just like ipc:// (and is fact just an alias). This is supplied so that in the future we can add support for AF_UNIX on Windows. We've also absorbed the ipcperms test into the new ipc_test suite. Finally we are now enforcing that IPC path names on Windows are not over the maximum size, rather than just silently truncating them.
* fixes #1311 reduce wasted use for nni_aioGarrett D'Amore2020-10-31
| | | | | | | | | | fixes #1317 IPv6 listener get port is incorrect fixes #1319 Want symbolic service names This is phase 1 of reducing the memory foot-print of aios, and also of pipes. This removes the largest consumer the socket address information, from the aio, which was only used by a few consumers.
* fixes #1312 the nng.compat_ws test fails *frequently*Garrett D'Amore2020-10-31
| | | | | This test no longer offers any real value, and its fixed port allocation dependency makes it too brittle in CI/CD.
* fixes #1289 zerotier should have it's own copy of the id hashing codeGarrett D'Amore2020-08-16
| | | | | | | | | | | fixes #1288 id allocation can overallocate fixes #1126 consider removing lock from idhash This substantially refactors the id hash code, giving a cleaner API, and eliminating a extra locking as well as some wasteful allocations. The ZeroTier code has it's own copy, that is 64-bit friendly, as the rest of the consumers need only a simpler 32-bit API.
* Prefix all tests with PROJECT_NAME (#1276)Hugo Lindström2020-08-07

* Add test code for bug1247.Garrett D'Amore2020-07-27

* fixes #1005 TLS 1.3 supportGarrett D'Amore2020-02-23
| | | | | | | | This introduces support for an external wolfSSL plugin, and generally creates the framework for pluggable TLS implementations. The wolfSSL engine is provided via an external module (git submodule), available either under a GPLv3 license or a commercial license.
* Survey test rewrite.Garrett D'Amore2020-02-05
| | | | | This bumps the coverage for survey up. While here fixed a few nits in req test, and removed the now pointless legacy survey and respond tests.
* Remove the old PUB/SUB tests.Garrett D'Amore2020-01-13
| | | | | | The new tests are more exhaustive, and cover everything. We also added a case for testing that posting messages that we didn't subscribe too doesn't raise the pollable flag.
* fixes #1121 reconnect test failures (Darwin?)Garrett D'Amore2020-01-08

* fixes #986 ws_read_finish_str free invalid pointerGarrett D'Amore2019-12-28
| | | | | | Also, this has refactored the websocket stream test to the new acutest.h, and includes a much deeper test of fragmentation and reassembly of websocket streams.
* fixes #1057 reqpoll test fails (bad test logic) sometimesGarrett D'Amore2019-12-27
| | | | The reqpoll test is now moved into the common req/rep logic.

* fixes #1032 Figure out Darwin bustednessGarrett D'Amore2019-12-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #1035 Convey is awkward -- consider acutest.h This represents a rather large effort towards cleaning up our testing and optional configuration infrastructure. A separate test library is built by default, which is static, and includes some useful utilities design to make it easier to write shorter and more robust (not timing dependent) tests. This also means that we can cover pretty nearly all the tests (protocols etc.) in every case, even if the shipped image will be minimized. Subsystems which are optional can now use a few new macros to configure what they need see nng_sources_if, nng_headers_if, and nng_defines_if. This goes a long way to making the distributed CMakefiles a lot simpler. Additionally, tests for different parts of the tree can now be located outside of the tests/ tree, so that they can be placed next to the code that they are testing. Beyond the enabling work, the work has only begun, but these changes have resolved the most often failing tests for Darwin in the cloud.
* fixes #919 Polling on subscriber socket recvfd seems brokenBehrooze Sirang2019-04-11
| | | | sub0_recv_cb was not calling nni_pollable_raise on sock->recvable.
* fixes #882 websocket stream mode doesn't copy received dataGarrett D'Amore2019-02-17

* fixes #823 Define public IPC (#824)Garrett D'Amore2018-12-22
| | | | | | | This introduces a basic IPC API, modeled on the TCP API, for direct access. Only connection options are exposed at present -- we need to add options for dialers and listeners (and particularly listener settings for permissions and security attributes.) Documentation is still outstanding, but a very limited test suite exists.
* Allow recv_maxsize to be set after calling listen() on listener. (#747)Cody Piersall2018-12-16
| | | | fixes #724 set recvmaxsize after listen for tcp.

* fixes #577 target library dependencies should be publicGarrett D'Amore2018-11-05
| | | | | | | | | | | This is a significant refactor of the library configuration. We use the modern package configuration helper, with a template script that also does the find_package dance for any of our dependencies. We also have restructured the code so that most protocols and transports have their configuration isolated to their own CMakeLists file, reducing the size of the global CMakeLists file.
* fixes #710 idhash has nasty performance bugGarrett D'Amore2018-09-09
| | | | fixes #709 idhash bug on duplicate add
* fixes #4 Statistics supportGarrett D'Amore2018-09-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This introduces new public APIs for obtaining statistics, and adds some generic stats for dialers, listeners, pipes, and sockets. Also added are stats for inproc and pairv1 protocol. The other protocols and transports will have stats added incrementally as time goes on. A simple test program, and man pages are provided for this. Start by looking at nng_stat(5). Statistics does have some impact, and they can be disabled by using the advanced NNG_ENABLE_STATS (setting it to OFF, it's ON by default) if you need to build a minimized configuration.
* fixes #484 crashes in websocket transportGarrett D'Amore2018-05-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #490 posix_epdesc use-after-free bug fixes #489 Sanitizer based testing would help fixes #492 Numerous memory leaks found with sanitizer This introduces support for compiler-based sanitizers when using clang or gcc (and not on Windows). See NNG_SANITIZER for possible settings such as "thread" or "address". Furthermore, we have fixed the issues we found with both the thread and address sanitizers. We believe that the thread issues pointed to a low frequency use-after-free responsible for rare crashes in some of the tests. The tests generally have their timeouts doubled when running under a sanitizer, to account for the extra long times that the sanitizer can cause these to take. While here, we also changed the compat_ws test to avoid a particularly painful and time consuming DNS lookup, and we made the nngcat_unlimited test a bit more robust by waiting before sending traffic.
* fixes #419 Remove the "convey" meta testGarrett D'Amore2018-05-29
| | | | | The test itself is not sanitizer friendly, and we don't need to do this meta testing; convey already does it in it's own repo.
* fixes #486 Revisit SOVERSION and VERSIONGarrett D'Amore2018-05-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #485 Honor BUILD_SHARED_LIBS fixes #483 Don't expose private symbols in shared library fixes #481 Export CMake target This is a "large" commit involving changes that don't affect the code directly, but which have an impact on how we package and build our project. The most significant of these changes is that we now build only either a shared or a static library, depending on the setting of the BUILD_SHARED_LIBS option. We also suppress private symbols from being exposed when the underlying toolchain lets us do so. Minor updates to the way we version the ABI are used, and we now have a nice exported CMake project. To import this project in another, simply do find_package(nng) and you can add target_link_libraries(nng::nng) to your targets. CMake does the rest for you.
* fixes #474 websocket listen on ws://*:<x> failsGarrett D'Amore2018-05-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #464 Support NN_WS_MSG_TYPE option (compat) fixes #415 websocket does not honor recv maxsize This fixes a significant (and security) issue in websocket, where the code does not honor a maximum receive size. We've exposed new API (internal) to set the limit on the frame size, and we've changed the default to *unlimited* for that internal API. (But the default for SP sockets, which are the only consumers at present, is still 1MB just like all other SP transports.)
* fixes #471 Linux resolver truncates port number silentlyGarrett D'Amore2018-05-21

* fixes #469 SO_REUSEADDR should be enabledGarrett D'Amore2018-05-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #468 TCP nodelay and keepalive should start usable fixes #467 NN_RCVMAXSZ option does not work (compat) fixes #465 Support NN_OPT_TCPNODELAY (compat) This is a rather larger change set than I'd like, but when adding support for legacy TCP keepalive, I found a number if issues using the legacy TCP test (which we are introducing with this commit.) This fixes the concerns that are relevant and addressible. We have elected not to try to support to local address binding at this time, and the IPv6 test case in the old code was wrong, so changes relevant to that are commented out. I've also updated the nng_compat manual page to reflect additional caveats that folks should be aware of, including the previously undocumented caveat around the NN_SNDBUF and NN_RCVBUF options.
* fixes #400 Some resolvers take a long time with garbage addressesGarrett D'Amore2018-05-06

* fixes #389 Need pipe notification callbacksGarrett D'Amore2018-05-03
| | | | | | | | This adds a new pipe event notification API (callbacks called on either pipe add or remove), including both tests and docs. Also supporting APIs to get the socket or endpoint associated with a pipe are included (tested and documented as well.)
* fixes #6 Security attributes supportGarrett D'Amore2018-04-30
| | | | | | | | | | fixes #382 Permissions support for IPC on POSIX This adds support for permission management on Windows and POSIX systems. There are two different properties, and they are very different. Tests and documentation are included.
* Add nonblocking test (test case for bug 346).Garrett D'Amore2018-04-28

* fixes #347 Legacy option NN_SNDBUF and NN_RCVBUF in bytes not messagesGarrett D'Amore2018-04-25
|
* fixes #342 Want Surveyor/Respondent context supportGarrett D'Amore2018-04-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | fixes #360 core should nng_aio_begin before nng_aio_finish_error fixes #361 nng_send_aio should check for NULL message fixes #362 nni_msgq does not signal pollable on certain events This adds support for contexts for both sides of the surveyor pattern. Prior to this commit, the raw mode was completely broken, and there were numerous other bugs found and fixed. This integration includes *much* deeper validation of this pattern. Some changes to the core and other patterns have been made, where it was obvioius that we could make such improvements. (The obviousness stemming from the fact that RESPONDENT in particular is very closely derived from REP.)
